Welcome to Set Aside at Greenlawdean Farm
Nestled in the Scottish Borders, Set Aside is a 700-acre organic working farm where nature, learning, and healing come together. Our diverse landscape offers a peaceful retreat and digital detox from the bustle of everyday life – a place where you can Reflect, Restore and Revive.
We give you the gift of time…
Our Ethos
Since about 1990, when the policy of ‘Set Aside’ was introduced to the UK, we have followed the farming and conservation land development.
Over the last three years we have not only maintained that ethos but become organic, and turned the farm to mainly grass, agriforestry and wild flower meadow, continuing to protect the SSSI status of the Blackadder River which flows through the Dean.
This concept shapes everything we do, from our farming practices to thinking behind our membership model. We have now opened the 700 acres to welcome a community of people who wish to reflect, restore and revive through healing, sharing skills with experiential learning.
We invite you to become a member to assist us and maintain the stewardship of this beautiful land.

Reviews
The Shepherd’s Hut is located in a secluded spot, just a 5 minute walk from the HQ caravan and car park. The hut is very snug, with a comfy double bed and a cosy log burner. The hut comes well-equipped with kitchen equipment. An induction hob can be used for cooking, which is plugged into a power station (there’s no mains electricity). There is a hut at the back which provides plenty of storage space, as well as a composting toilet (there’s no mains water).
